Synopsis | Itinerary | Kumbha Mela | Sadhus

The Ganges is a major river of the Indian subcontinent, associated in myth and reality with the land and people of India. It is regarded by Hindus as the most Sacred River.

No fixed road leads to Gomukh, the source, only stones and water guide the few holy men who endure the hardship of the path. The Ganga Ma team spent a week in a tent waiting for the weather to clear. The ice shots of Ganga Ma above portrays the glacier (Gomuck or Cow Mouth) that gives birth to the Ganges. The "Cow Mouth", at 13.500 feet, strange and compelling, says all that can be said about beginnings.
