Ignored or forgotten by the modern world and eclipsed by the struggle for independence of Israelis and Palestinians, the ancient culture of the Bedouins appears as a quiet witness in the motion of history in the region.

Isolated in their adverse environment since the Arab expansion of the VII century, the inhabitants of the Negev and Sinai desert held on to their traditional way of life and managed to maintain their pristine culture throughout the centuries.

Nevertheless, the ever expanding cultural globalization of modern times has slowly started to erode their traditions. Agricultural and urban development, communication technology and recent transportation networks have reached almost all cells of Bedouin habitat.

These images of the most remote Bedouins of Israel and Egypt are presented as a window to the past in an attempt to document a culture at the verge of extinction.
